Bold is pleased to announce Gerard Torres as the new COO who has started his duties very recently in our new offices in Montmeló, Barcelona.
Gerard Torres, continuing the path with Bold
Gerard joins Bold as COO with the mission to expand its operations and unlock the next phase of growth for the company in the field of lightweight structures and efficient battery pack systems for electric mobility applications. “Bold is a young, growing company committed to providing innovative solutions to its premium customers. I was impressed by the energy of the team since the first day, as well as their strong technical capabilities.”
When asked about the new professional challenge that he faces at Bold, Gerard commented that “Personally, I believe the challenge is not only embodied in the technical aspect, but on the human side too because of the demanding, tight deadlines driving ultra-fast work dynamics in a multicultural team. Fostering and counting on teamwork, respect, and determination to achieve your goals are values which are often overlooked but are, indeed, of the utmost importance in fast-paced environments like Formula 1. Thanks to the experience Mercedes had afforded me, I discovered that possessing soft skills, in addition to technical capabilities, makes it possible to overcome fear of failure in order outperform competitors. The truth is that this point is key to having a competitive advantage as it is very hard to replicate. I look forward to incorporating and strengthening these concepts at Bold.”
After winning multiple Drivers’ and Constructors’ Championships with Mercedes, Gerard chose to embark on a new journey at the end of 2017, pursuing an MBA and starting his own Technical Consulting firm, providing professional consultation and advice for companies such as Toyota Motorsport GmbH. He has also performed as the Vehicle and Operations Manager within the micro mobility arm of FreeNow, a JV of Daimler AG and BMW AG in the mobility space. During his time with the company, Gerard took responsibility for overseeing local teams spread across 7 European countries and heading up vehicle strategy, including sourcing, deployment and maintenance.
Welcome to the team – it is sure to be a wild ride from here on out. We are all ready, willing and able to take that trip with you.
